Grass Roots Tourism

The IX Fairtrade Tourism Model is about breaking the cycle of dependancy through generating and delivering as much revenue as possible directly to grassroots suppliers and leaving more margin in the country. All bookings made at zero commission for 100% retained margin and free Consumer Travel Planner with social integrated networks.

Our vision is to provide to all African countries and Small Medium Enterprise’s a flexible online tourism platform, providing- low cost, high-speed transmission of information on destinations and services together with the capability to integrate and analyse information from many different providers through an interactive platform reaching multiple distribution channels and to considerably improve destination promotion, branding, export value and investment.

Tourism is one of the world’s largest economic activities and increasingly recognised as a key service sector export and employment driver in the world’s developing countries and a vital delivery agent for the Millennium Development Goals in Africa. With over 1.5 billion Internet users and with over 2 billion mobile devices, the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the DIGITAL age is clearly becoming an important competitive factor for the tourism sector with African countries lagging way behind the rest of the world.

Grass roots tourism initiatives all over the world struggle to tell tourists they exist. Most do not have the resources or skills to market themselves in an industry dominated by multinational companies. We support programmes and initiatives that are based on responsible and ethical tourism as promoted by Tourism Concern who's aim is to promote humanitarian and aware tourism at a grass roots level and to promote responsible tourism in the interests of sustainability for all.
